What Is Digital Marketing.

Digital Marketing is a very complex and competitive industry.  It’s about making a presence online within your respective niche.  Every time you go online someone is trying to directly or indirectly sell you a product or service.  Businesses can’t thrive without spreading their brand using online marketing.  Leveraging strategies like PPC, SEO, email marketing, and more can be vital to generating more sales.  In a nut shell digital marketing is a term for promoting and selling products or services using different types of marketing strategies.

Lets dive a little deeper!

Types of Digital Marketing.

  1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  2. Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
  3. Social Media Marketing
  4. Email Marketing
  1. Search Engine Optimization.

SEO is all about organic traffic.  Driving traffic to your site using keyword research to optimize your results.  This takes a lot of time and effort because the process may take weeks or months to see results.  Obviously the goal is to drive as much traffic as possible but where SEO comes in is that it helps set apart people that are genuinely interested in your product.  Rather than someone stumbling onto your site because they have nothing better to do and as well as not having any intention in contributing to your cause.  SEO is organically driven traffic so its traffic you do not have to pay for.  Ranking of SEO is based on factors such as the quality of content you put out, page speed, mobile UI (user interface), and backlinks.  Backlinking is where you reach out to other sites and get them to link to your page.  It’s a lot easier said than done. All of these factors contribute toward your Domain Authority which is the overall ranking of your site.

  1. Pay-Per-Click.

PPC is an advertising model where you pay a fee every time someone clicks on one of your ads.  What google will do is put your site at the top of the first page when someone types in that specific word or phrase.  I’ll give you an example.  Let’s say you own a public storage facility, you set up a campaign and within that campaign you chose specific keywords.  The keyword that you chose is “public storage” and you can choose as many keywords as you want but remember “pay per click” so you want to choose them wisely.  If i were looking for a place to store my things i would type in google  “Storage near me,” “public storage,”  and the first link that should show up would be your storage facility!  That is PPC in its simplest form.

Now with a google ad campaign there are a number of tools that you can use to help you.  Things like keyword research tools which help you find specific keywords within your niche, google analytics which track everything that happens on your site.  How long people stay on your site.  How many conversions you get per click.  What the bounce rate of your site is.  All helpful tools that can benefit you to refine your strategy to drive up those conversion rates.

You can also use PPC on your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedln.  Most traffic comes from Google and Facebook so you might have more success if you start with those first and then work your way into the other platforms.

  1. Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is all about engaging with your audience.  Promoting your products and services can help you reach new customers.  You want to build brand awareness as well as brand loyalty.  You not only want to get people to purchase your product or service but it’s about recurring customers.  Social media marketing can help increase website traffic as well as sales you just have to put yourself out there.  Engage with your customers, reply to their comments, follow them back, it’s a popularity contest.  Treat your social media account as a relationship, you need to communicate, listen, network, and of course the obvious, the reason you are there in the first place SALES!

  1. Email Marketing

Email Marketing is direct marketing almost like door to door sales.  Direct, right to the punch and personal.  You want to promote your products or services, give them flash sales, deals, promo codes, anything that will catch their attention.  Make them feel like you are talking to them personally and they are getting an exclusive deal.  Touch them emotionally.  It’s also a way to keep them informed by just simply reaching out to them.  Keep them in the loop.  In the digital marketing space it’s one of the best ROI you can get.  Adding videos, pictures, and even infographics can help gain interest and retention.

Digital Marketing is critical in today’s online world and it’s versatility can translate into any industry.  It’s continually evolving, that’s why staying up to date and ahead of the curve is most important.  There is always room for refining strategies and your approach.  Understanding fundamentals to capture the best results for your business.  I hope this helps you grow!  Take advantage of where your business goes!

Why Digital Marketing is so Important!

When businesses get started their focus is often on how to get customers through the door to buy their products or services.  Oftentimes most businesses think they have a superior product. “It’s only a matter of time before the customers start flooding through the doors.”  While this strategy may bring in business it’s only a small percentage of what could be done.  The online marketplace is growing exponentially and is much more vast than traditional advertising.

A lot of businesses believe that they are already doing online marketing by simply posting a few pictures on social media and seeing how many likes they get.  They’re missing the point.  The group of potential customer that are active online is much larger than what businesses can attract via word of mouth or simply just opening its doors.  Digital marketing can reach that audience that is both cost-effective and efficient.

Digital Marketing allows you to:

  • Interact with your audience and learn exactly what they are looking for.
  • Have the ability to reach a much larger marketplace
  • Get to know your audience and create a more personal experience with a specific marketplace to help create brand loyalty.
  • Track responses of your audience and constantly adapt because we all know the customer is “always” right.

At one point online marketing was just a new and different form of marketing.  But the last few years has shown us the importance of what digital marketing has become and what it can do for your business.  Just because you can’t see them does not mean they’re not there.  Digital Marketing is the way to grow your brand awareness and loyal customer fan base.  It has become an integral part of what a business is to its customers.  Starting with paid advertisement the PPC campaign you put into place will focus heavily on the traffic you drive to your business.  Spend your money wisely.  As a business owner, it is all about taking action.  Don’t wait for your customers to come to you.  Go get them!

Knowing your competition.  It is important to know what your competition is doing because not only do you want to beat them but you can also learn a lot from their approach.  You want to learn if they have an online presence at all, if they don’t you are already beating them.  What kind of content are they generating whether it’s blogging, graphics, videos, PPC, SEO, etc.  How they communicate with the online world.  What are they doing on social media.  You can see what might work for you or what might not work.  When it comes to digital marketing it is all about experimenting, trial and error.  You can only do this if you compete in the digital space, locally, and globally.  Your potential customers can’t choose you if they don’t know you exist.  Be accessible, be available, make your brand grow.

Digital Marketing requires a certain skill set.  It’s a fast-paced, lucrative environment that demands your abilities on a daily basis.  Harnessing certain characteristics will put you in the best position to evolve with your industry.

Digital Marketing is a data driven environment.  Every approach you may encounter requires specific and measurable action.  You should be able to analyze research and insight and turn that it into action. Using analytic tools and being able to translate that data to refine your strategy over and over again.

Being creative as well as resourceful.  Creativity can measure to what extent you can succeed.  Whether you can write, design, strategize to set your brand apart.  The ability to innovate and take risks.  The key is to adapt and survive.  Interpret results that will enable you to find a solution when your business needs it most.

Digital Marketing can be very difficult at times because Google is constantly updating its ranking process.  This process takes many factors into account.  Here is a few examples.  How long users stay on your site.  If the content that you put on your site ranks for certain keywords that people are searching for.  How high your conversion rates are.  Page speed, broken links, visits per month.  The list goes on and on which is why it requires your attention in great detail.
